Family has gone home and we "might" have some help coming from a couple of locals to get the firewood done and into the shed. They will charge us however. No getting around that. Hopefully it won't be too much.

PayPal account now shows $881.62. There is one eCheck waiting to clear that doesn't show in the balance columne.

    God Bless!

Contact the local school or Boy scouts. See if there's someone who needs community service hours.

No boy scout troops up here and no reliable teenage boys. Sad but true. Very small community.

Like Thumbcocker said. I can forgo a new mold to help our own. We just need to set up and stop waiting for the government to do what we need to do ourselves.

If you want a reliable vehicle look for a 90s jeep Cherokee sport they where before my time as a a mechanic but I think it's something like 94-2001. Make sure it has a 4.0 inline 6 cylinder. The older models can be had for around 1500-2000 the newer models are still holding a value of around 4-6 thousand depending on condition. I don't know Maine emissions standards but I know federally if it's older then 96 you have to smog test (tailpipe sniffer test). 96 and up or any obd2 car is plug and pass. No light or codes and all readiness monitors ready and you're good. Personally I like obd2 it's extremely easy to diagnose and repair. But I'd definetely look for a jeep. Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

$3 from every view of this thread would have us there.

I have been looking at Carfax for used Ford Explorers. We liked our Expedition but it had a drinking problem....along with the rust problem. So, I thought a step down to an Explorer might be better. Still big enough to hold the two big dogs and us plus groceries, etc.

I limited the search to 500 miles so it takes in several states around us. Not sure how we would go about getting something checked out that far away but maybe we have members who know something about cars that might go take a look? But, it's still early in fund raising so, what do you all think about an Explorer? Decent prices on some altho I am passing by any with too many owners or accident reports.

Like many here I (assume) I'm retired and have been for over 10 years, so, payday is always the first of the month for us, so will help after that. I live on the other side of the country so no help in the vehicle department.

Ok, a question for the Jeep Cherokee folks. I spent a few hours yesterday looking at them from the Northeast. About 3/4's of them have had or been involved in some sort of accident. They also are pretty pricey for cars with higher mileage.
As to the accidents. Has there been some sort of recall thing that has been fixed that "might" have caused something like this?

    Just curious.

As you can see I am up to page 20 in the listings........nearly went blind reading and looking for defects in the older ones AND the newer. But I tried to keep reasonable in pricing. I skipped over any with multiple owners or accidents.

Check the local high schools for Vo Ag classes and FFA ( Future Farmers of America ). They do comunity service and help out the people in the community. Also use the Mark Twain technique with the FFA students. Make it a wood splitting contest for them. WHo can split the most with one blow, who can split the most wood in a given time. Teenagers love to compete against each other and an older guy there letting them beat him keeps them going. Ill bet the wood would be split in no time flat. Also check local schools for auto classes as they are ussually looking for projects to work on.

Oh and the young man who didn't show yesterday called a bit ago to say he was coming this afternoon to work and can work most of this week, IF NEEDED......(that depends on how fast he can stack wood without it falling down again, lol)
