I don't believe there is such a mold in current production. Lyman and Lee have both discontinued their hollow point molds in 38/357. Tis a pity, but that is the way of it. Lyman 358156 was the best of the lot and a used one will pop up on Ebay from time to time. However they do bring a premium price these days.
Buckshot does a beautiful job of hollowpointing one cavity of any mold. He did one on a 4 cavity Lyman for me. Three flat and one hollow for each opening of the mold. It's a great way to go.

There is no 'right' that requires me to work for you or you to work for me!
What is his price for such work? I have a DC Lyman dropping 160gr SWC t hat would be great.

358429 is another HP mould available-sometimes.
It is a plain base one groove while the 358156 is a GC w 1 grease groove and two crimping grooves-or so it looks like anyway.
When I get myself organized, if that occurs in this life time, I'm thinking about having Buckshot HP some moulds for me.
But that is sorta down on my list right now.
Good luck with the quest.

Another vote for Buckshot's work. I had a Lyman 358311 that he HPed for me. He also made a pin for a 429421 that was missing a pin. And Hped a two cavity Lyman 452374, Hp in one cavity only. Personally, I would buy a single cavity in the boolit I wanted and would have Buckshot do the work. Much more reasonable than the HP molds on ebay!
i f buckshot is interested in doing HP'ng I have a new Lyman 410459 that is begging to be down -if he is interested of course
Thanks, for the info everyone. Just as I figured, oh well guess its just one more thing that I didn't need anyway

Look on Ebone, they show up there from time to time. Or, just have a mold that you like hollow pointed (it ain't that hard).
Why have the mold makers discontinued their HP molds? There seems to be plenty of interest in them....
Actually, Lyman still has three hollow point bullet moulds in their "Devastator" line (on their web site, just go to the pistol bullet moulds and scroll down to the end). The .358 is 125 grs, the .430 is 250 gr and the .45 is 185 gr.
Personally, as soon as I get a chance to cast a few bullets with my double cavity 358429 I plan on sending it to Buckshot for hollow pointing of one cavity. I picked that up last fall at the ASSRA Fall Nationals.

I have 14 - 35 cal HP moulds at this time. Not hard to do if you have a lathe and or milling machine. A drill press is also handy. I tend to like the e-clip attacchment vs the pin. They do show up on ebay or at guns shows from time to time.

Instead of asking why Lyman stopped making HP moulds on an online discussion board, why don't you call or write them and ask them? If enough people write them asking for the Keith and Thompson HP moulds, maybe Lyman will get the message and start making them again. They'll never know if you don't tell them...

Thanks Yall!
HP molds are not cheap but there are at least two makers I recommend.
NOE makes several 158-ish molds with hollow points

They are so far superior to the BS Lyman molds as to defy comparison.
Even better are the MP Cramer style molds, but those are group buy only and can take a long while to show up on your door step. In timed trials I was able to cast about 10 boolits a minute on a 30 minute average with an hp Cramer style H&G 68 clone, while a standard H&G 68 clone by the same maker gave me 12 boolits a minute in the same time frame. They are excellent. He does not stock any molds, save for a few over runs. However, if you go to his website You may get lucky and find one that was ordered and not picked up.

I can vouch for Erik at Hollowpoint mould as I have several moulds he has converted for me. Top quality work@ great prices and quick turnaround . He also does gascheck removal and enlarging the driving bands and probably a lot more than I know of. Check his website.
I also will vouch for Eric at hollow point mold service. I've used him several times and his service is excellent.
I also have a few HP molds from NOE. These also are of excellent quality.
If I already had a mold I liked Id go with Eric. If not I'd look at what NOE has to offer. Mine came with 3 pins. Flat point, small HP and large HP
I believe Eric will do the same if you request it.
