    Maters and Biscuits

Yesterday my Brother brought fresh home grown tomatoes by. Today my lovely wife sliced some of them and made a pan of biscuits. Needless to say, I ate so much I can hardly walk.

It doesn't get any better than a fresh biscuit sliced open and a slice of tomato inside.

    Have a blessed day,

    Leon

Fluffy white bread toasted, mayo, some lettuce, 1/2 pound of bacon, 3-4 huge tomato slices, more mayo... you eat this with a knife and fork or wear it try to pick it up!

I met a gal years ago that put fresh sliced maters on buscuits and covered it all with sausage gravy. After trying it I have to admit that it's pretty darned good.

Try it, you will like it. No salt, pepper, just tomato in a biscuit. Like a good steak, don't need anything on it.

    Have a blessed day,

    Leon

It's been an awful long time, but as a youth, there were often tomatoes in the fridge, and sometimes a biscuit or three as well. I believe I put salt, pepper and mayo on mine, and gee golly wow was it ever more GOOD! Of course, anything Mom had made was the best, and it was NOT entirely just what I was used to. Every one who's ever commented on Mom, now that she's gone, says two things about her: 1- she was a great cook; and 2- she had the most beautiful flowers in the community, and could make anything grow and prosper (not quite true, but really close).

Now, I can't eat biscuits any more, except once in a great while, so it'll be a while before I try one of these, but ..... it's in my mind again now, so .... look out diet! I can be an awful sinner sometimes!

Isn't this kind of a glorified BLT?

No it IS a BLT made the right way! It should be a meal in itself! Bacon is a food group!

Yesterday I had a fried egg sandwich for breakfast.

Thick sliced toasted white bread. Egg from my chickens. Homemade bacon from this years hog butchering. Tomato slices from my garden. DUKES mayo.

I prefer the tomato cut up on a plate, with salt -- the biscuit with some butter or cream cheese right next to it. Been blessed with a great tomato crop this year......

Three major food groups. Bacon, ham and sausage. Biscuits work with each.

A fist-sized mater and a dollop of Dukes will make a meal any day.
When they packaged Dukes in the individual packets, it even became portable.

I received a jar of fig preserves from a kind man and this morning I had figs on buttered biscuits- indescribable!
