Thread: Let's see your casting/smelting setup

    This is where I do my casting. The shed is 10'X16' but only half of it is for casting, other half is storage. I do my smelting out side on a turkey fryer burner, my casting is done inside on 3 different bottom pore led pots.
    This is the outside view, my friend is doing some wheel weight smelting:
    Photo 2 is the cabinet where I store the moulds:
    The third photo is the shelf with lead pots, I cast standing up so the shelf is high. I have a 10lb Lee pot for melting wheel weights, A lyman for pure lead and a RCBS for #2 alloy:

    My range scrap pot is made out of an old Campbell Hausfeld pancake compressor tank. The lid isn't on it in this pic. The stand is made from an old steel chair base that has been beefed up to hold at least 300#. The burner shown is from an old gas oven, but has been replaced with one from an old natural gas water heater. Natural gas may not burn as hot as propane, but my bottle will never run dry halfway through a job. I have poured 200# of ingots from it in one batch.
