    30-30 from 303 Savage brass?

I just got a handful of once fired 30-30 cases, and the seller mistakenly had a smaller handful of 303 Savage cases included with the exchange. I don't really blame him, he was great to deal with, shipped really fast, communicated well with me and had everything packaged in an extremely neat and durable manner. Also, the brass has been relatively clean, considering what I could be getting, and appears to be a relatively good amount of care taken in getting them here, and probably a lot of pre-sorting before selling.

Anyway, the 303 Savage looks pretty similar to the 30-30, and I don't expect that case to be that common. Just a tiny oversight. But I was wondering if it's possible to make 30-30 brass out of it. I see the dimensions are pretty close, but the 303 Savage is considerably shorter, and the base diameters differ by ~0.0020.

Didn't have much luck searching online to do this. A lot of threads on converting 30-30 to 303 Savage, but not the other way.

you should sell it to me
you can make 30-30 from 303 but it may require base turning. Going the other way is esay and done a lot.
the 303 is worth more as it is
how many you got? want to trade?

I'll go down and count them out and see how many there are. I'll let you know soon.

I'm going to give ascast a few more days. I don't wish to drop an exchange halfway through, or shortly after an interested party states their intentions. I'll get in touch with you if I do not hear back from him before too long. But as always, preference will go to the first interested party.

Moderators, I realize this is not a "for sale" forum. I will not be pushing items for sale here. This just sort of "happened".

If anyone else is interested in buying these items or other things from me, please PM me so this forum stays as intended. I monitor my inbox each time I visit the main site.

Well....darn! I was going to say the .30-30 are much more common than .303 and I would be glad to exchange them for you to.

I physically cringed when I read the thread title. I'm glad you found a home for those .303 cases, they aren't unobtainable, but are a lot less common than .30-30 and the thought of making something common from something rare...

I have a .303 and I'd take it, even though I have enough to last a while at the rate I'm shooting it.

I mailed them to ascast yesterday. I'm in the process of trying to consolidate and simplify my ammunition needs, and really don't want the extra clutter. I'd be interested to learn more about the round, but don't know anyone locally that shoots it, and I need to get my 30-30's rolling again.

    Thanks for the replies.
