    Done with springers

I,m done with them, period. Who needs that kind of inaccuracy? I went PCP and I'm not looking back. Quieter, highly accurate, not sensitive to temps.....did I say accurate? 5 shots into one ragged hole at 25 yards. I was never able to get more than three shots to group with a springer or gas gun. This is the way to go.

No, I didn't but I did try a Benjamin gas piston gun, 4 Gamo springers and a Gamo Gas Piston gun. None were nerly as accurate or as forgiving as my PCP gun

IMHO....those guns mentioned are at the bottom of the Springer pile, an HW97 or AATX200 may change the way you feel, and no bottle or pump required, very solid and accurate guns. I own some very nice PCPs and thought they were the only way to go, until my TX200 arrived, now I wouldn't mind selling some PCPs, but the TX is a keeper.

Man I agree with you there. Bottom of the barrel is pretty accurate

Still killin varmints with a 1973 Sheridan Silver Streak. 3-5 pumps kills just about everything that invades the compound.
Cept cats, which get the full 8 pumps

I can't argue a nice pcp is accurate but as stated above your choice of springer rifles would make a guy hate them.A Walther LGV and my TX shoot real close to pcp accuracy at 25 yards.at 50 and beyond is where the pneumonia guns shine.although 1/2" is well within a good .177 spring gun at that distance.

you are right about temperature sensitivity in spring guns. that's when I do hate them.I have run into point of impact issues in very cold weather due to the lube on the spring and guide.

I got into air guns as a way to bust California ground squirrels without A. endangering the neighbors and B. not alerting them with noise. I won my first two Gamos and was gifted a third. Then I bought one. The Benjamin I won in a raffle. The new Benjamin PCP gun is quieter, hits just as hard and allows for a fast follow up shot so I rate it very highly. Add to that I can mount any scope on it and it just gets better. That's a lot of value for $475

I'm partial to the HW 77/97 for my Springer. I have a very nice walnut TX200 but I shoot the HW more.

You just can't beat the Maurader or discovery with a ldc/silencer.

    Springer? Inaccurate?
A springer is only as accurate as the dedication of the user.

Note the scope is in a cheap set of mounts therefore creeping in the rings. Better mounts are in the post as of now.

My better springers shoot amazing and I prefer them but a good pcp is so easy to shoot well.

I agree! Whole other world in terms of shooting. I'm happy with mine.

I switched to a Daystate Huntsman Regal almost 2 years ago, fantastic piece of kit....

Still love my 38 year old FWB Sport 127.... But it can't compare to the DHR...

...and all within a power limit of sub 12 ft/lb....
    May we achieve our aims....

Cheap springers were a waist of my time like your experience. The least expensive one I was happy with was the RWS 34.

PCP: I dont really stand having to bother with bottles and the gaskets. Plus the revision process is rather difficoult. Weirauch are great shooters as they come from factory and with a few work on them (gaskets, spring top end and driver, a metal shield around the spring) they can be tuned to excellense. Ad a simple spring swap make them new after years of use.

I have a Beeman R1 NOT a bottom of the line springer. I toped it off with a Leupold vari-x 3x9 EFR scope, I am in the gun a Grand give or take. It was a pleasure to shoot, little heavy though. I got me a Air Arms 450S I toped it off with a leupold vari-x III 3.5-10 50mm EFR. Ever since then I haven't shot 50 pellets out of my Beeman in years. My vote is for PCP. Yes I have shot .25 cal hole with 5 shots at 25 yds in a indoor range sand bagged and fully rested with a .22 cal pellet.

Why is it we buy a cheap springer and then complain about it? If you buy anything cheap that's made cheap do you really expect Olympic level accuracy from it? I am a "springer" guy and understand if I am shooting a cheap one, especially with cheap pellets, I might be able to just hit a tennis ball at 20 yards......maybe. I also understand quality pellets won't improve much. I have a cheap springer and still enjoy shooting it. I can hit yellow jackets at 5 yards with it. I also have an expensive precision made springer that will shoot ragged holes at 25 yards and well under 1" at 50 yards, many times around 1/2" for 10 shots. I like springers but if one you want to send me a scuba gun and all the related equipment I'll use it too.

I want to jump in here as I have owned exactly one Cheap Springer and it got sent back the day after it arrived.

I have a HW35E, an HW77 and an R1 and all of these guns are one hole guns.

That's 10 shots thru the same hole at 10 meters from my HW35 in 1976! it will do the same thing today.

Unless you are willing to buy a decent Spring Powered Gun you are not going to be satisfied with the accuracy.

We can give you plenty of suggestions on which ones are good. just get a Pyramyd Air Guns Catalog and buy one of the good ones.
