Can already lubed boolits be powder coated?

I'd like to try this newfangled PC process, but all my cast boolit stash already wears a couple coats of JPW/Alox. Is there a good way to clean them off, or, do you even need to?

I think soaking in Acetone would do it. The alox will definitely need to be removed.

There are several threads here on how to remove lube with several different was to do it but acetone is one way. Some boil off the lube then drop in mineral spirits/paint thinner/acetone. BNE is right, it must be removed for the PC to stick

If they are the correct size for the bore you are wasting your time. Shoot them then get ya some other ones to PC. I don't PC pistol boolits any more, waste of time.

    This nails it.
Cast a new batch of bullets, Lube 50, powder coat 50 and do a comparison of how they shoot.
One fellow here with a 44 mag lever rifle discovered his group size dropped from over 3" (lubed bullet) to under 1.5" (powder coat) at 50 meters with the same bullet
You will have to decide if it is worth the effort to remove the lube, or cast new.
Go now and pour yourself a hot one...

All of the above suggestions are correct, but PC bullets can be pretty and minimizes the leading if you don't size appropriately.
To add to the answers though, I have put the whole lot on non-stick foil in the toaster oven at around 250 and it just melted off. I did have to wipe a little when they cooled, but it worked.

To remove lube from boolets I used some old stale gasoline, dumped several hundred in a gallon can and let sit for two days.
Blue lube was gone,I washed with hot water and simple green.
They then got a dose of red powder coating.

I boil mine in an old pot with just water and pour the lube from the top as it floats. Then I add a bit of dish soap and stir the bullets. Pour them thru an old screen strainer and rinse. Then I put them back in the pot and add straight Spray-9 or whatever cleaner you have lying around. Acetone works. Then rinse and let dry.
