Gun fun with a cheap endoscope

I broke down and bought one of those cheap ($14) endoscopes off Ebay for looking inside my guns. You get what you pay for with these. But for $14 I didn't expect a whole lot. But it does provide a previously unavailable view and is kind of fun to play with.

Here are a few shots. L-R top row: are a Spiller & Burr revolver bore, a view inside the receiver of an 1873 Winchester, and the breech of a Springfield model 1855 musket (look close you can see the flash hole to the left of the breech plug.
Bottom row L-R: the breech of my Remington rolling block .58 cal rifle, the same rifle with a .58 Roberts dummy round in the chamber.

Its a pretty neat little tool!

I have one too that is USB to a device. I got it after my video scope took a dump on me. This one is a 5.5mm so it will work on most of my guns. I will be making a 90° mirror attachment so i can better see the bore and anything else that needs inspection. Nice pics btw!

This is a 5.5mm also. It will go into a 32 cal and up. An angled mirror would be a nice upgrade.

I'm just going to use a stub of brass hobby tubing and cut & slit it to slide over the end of the scope and notch a 45° window in it and glue in a oval shape piece of mirror from a makeup container.

    Thanks.

The scope I picked up was on Amazon, to which there are plenty of them on there also. I did see a model that plugs into your smartphone or other device but I remember it was larger than 5.5mm. I have a USB jump jack and I did try to hook it to my phone but no dice unfortunately.

I got mine from amazon. Bout the same price and results. It works fine on a 25 caliber. I believe it would work on .243 but .224 is a no go.

Wow. Something I can actually afford! Might not be medical grade but if I can see machine marks, lead or copper fouling that is all I need. Sure beats the heck out of $700+!!!
