Was thinking a printer on my chronograph would make things easier. No more writing things down. I use a Shooting Chrony Beta Master chronograph. Any views?

Yes the printer would just be another machine to keep running around here.
I use my chrony to test all my loads. No issue to see the numbers from shooting position or just walk up to it. On a range with other shooters. Where you have to wait to go downrange it's another matter. Then remote units with bells and whistles to run the unit from your bench make sense.
I made a serial cable from about $5 in parts and connect my F1 Chrony to my laptop. Makes life a lot easier for me.
Bohica793, Sounds like my type of set up...How?

Parts I didn't have, I got at Radio Shack.
I use my computer to capture the data.
Don't like being hammered by the Cast Boolits Staff, then don't be a nail.
The rules are simple to follow.
Thanks Bohica793! That'll help out a lot for others, I think. Just confused me, I'm electronically challenged. Does it mean I can make up an adapter cable to connect from my telephone cord looking port thingy to the USB port of my laptop? Then download someone's personal program to enable me to view and record the chrony's data?
Well, I saw a Shooting Chrony Ballistic Printer on Evilbay, used, for half the new price and snatched it up. It arrived today and appears to be new or barely used. I hated to have to write down the data as I was shooting or risk losing it all. Carrying all this stuff down to the firing line and setting it up is bother enough, when you lose your data, it's all for nothing.
Resurrecting this thread for the purpose of announcing my Chronograph capture software for Windows and the F1 Chrony. Works with the serial cable mentioned earlier in this thread. I got tired of writing things down and finally took the time to sit down and bang out the code. Download it and try it. Tell me what you think, what is wrong and what needs improving.

It needs to be an app for an android.
I know it sounds redundant. I use an f-1. and i do not mind writing down the numbers for each shot on paper. but that is all i need. all i care about is the shot velocity. depending on what the ammo is being used for will determine how important the S.D. and E.S is.
I have always wanted a Chrony but I only shoot at indoor ranges. I saw a staff member setup his chrony and try to gauge the speed from his .223 AR 15 and it didn't work. He said that there probably was not enough light indoors.
Is that how these work ? They don't work indoors or in the dark ?
Shoot'em If You Got'em...
You have to have a good amount of overhead light for it to work.
They sell special lights for your sky screens for indoor use. A chronograph records the time difference of the shadow of the bullet as it passes the first and second screens.
I do remember seeing a post here a while back where a guy affixed 2 florecent light fixtures in place of the sky screens. Heck, i just shoot outdoors.
