    patching a boolet

    "HELP" I am trying to patch a 28 caliber slick (.270X2) 30deg,45deg. & 60 deg. nothing works , if I get the wrap right the length is off, what do you think? I am using drafting board and angles Thanks for your answer, Hank

    Smaller dias get tougher to wrap . Cut a strip of yout paper and put 3-4 wraps around bullet tight and even hold and nick edge with a razor blade with this you get the actual length of the patch lay out angles from nicks and try. adjust for length by trimming to just shy of edges meeting. A patching board may help to keep everything square and true also. Make a template of the patch from this brass aluminum or plastic with the first correct patch. It takes some practice to wrap smaller bullets.

    country gent, tough is an under statement, now I see why they used young women to do the wrapping, I did the three wrap and nick, it came out to be .540 dia. X and the boolet length is 1.180. The twist in my rifle is 1 in 9.5 Hank

    Try patching 52gr. .220" slicks!
