Question Sources for .22 RF cases for bullet jackets

Big time newbie here. I just made my first batch of .224 bullets from .22 RF jackets. I picked up about 300 cases at our local range & some were new, old, stepped on, odd-ball, etc. Not a problem because it is all fun & part of the hobby. But I notice from some pictures & comments here that guys have 5 gal buckets full of cases! Comments also that these came from indoor ranges. Gee, now I'm jealous!

Are these cases free? Are they bought & if so what is a reasonable price? What do most people do to get cases for jackets? Poke around on the ground like I do? It would take me a lifetime to get a 5 gal pail full!!

    TIA...

I buy them. Even at $2.00 a pound it comes to be $.00285 each. I have about 340,000. I won't need any for quite some time. There are about 700 per pound. If you need some, I can sell you a 25 pound box for $67.00 shipped. that comes out to $.0038 each.

The groundskeeper at my range/club sells them for scrap. I can arrange for you to get them pretty cheap. I'd much rather they go to swagers instead of scrappers.

I won't pick them up off the ground, I just grab the handful or two off the benches every time I am at the range. [50-100]
if you want a bajillion at a time, the above options are good.
I'd like to know where everybody shooting all the 22's around here are getting them.

I pick them up at the local range so nowhere near the 5gal pail of collection yet.
Swaging. Keeping the 40's running for the price of .22's
and .223 bullets for a fraction of a cent!

My reloading friends know I swage bullets with them so when they are picking up brass, they pick up 22s for me.

Is there any use for the nic plated 22 cases? Most I have from the range are plated.

Just find a guy/gal that shoots a lot of 22lr, ask them to sweep up for you. I have a friend that holds friendly 22lr bench comps at his prop. He sent me about 9K last year. I doubt I ever use them all. Before that I was picking up at the 22lr line at the club I shoot. 200-300 in a few minutes, hand picked no squashed or deformed cases.

I have multiple 5 gallon buckets of .22 cases from sorting each month. I would sell them off at my scrap price + shipping if anyone is interested. They are all from an indoor range. Please email me at james@monmouthbrass.com
