Great "catch"!!
May all your bullets find the Bullseye.
Last summer, I smelted a couple 60 lb lead boat anchors (cast in very old steel coffee cans). I got them from the neighbor of the guy who cast them...the neighbor didn't know the alloy. From the way that alloy poured/cooled/color in the ingot molds, it was just like COWW alloy. BHN was 11 the day after casting some boolits, then about 13 two months later. I'm be using it as COWW

Like an addict, I asked if he had any more.
Been trying to get the car and tire shops in Licking, Mo to get on board with hoarding for me. The farmers have helped, but they now know I cast and want something in exchange. One offered his broadhead mold if I would cast up 100 for him.
Nice!

That look on your face, when you shift into 6th gear, but it's not there.
You read that right. He had a broadhead mold. I had never seen such a thing. It looked like it would produce some wide and really thin arrow heads.
I had seen the clay molds before, but this was similar to a fishing jig mold, foldover style, clearly not a clay mold.
Starting to wonder if I should have snagged it just for something to have. Now I wish I had snapped a picture.

Melted this sucker down last night and OH MY did it stink! It smelled worse than catfish from the muddy Mississippi!
The guy had mounted a nut and bolt to a sawblade and let it all cool in a skillet.

Back when I had my little boat I used to go fishing for blackfish. They liked to swarm under bridges and you were almost guaranteed to loose your anchor due to the ricks and other junk down there when they built the bridge. So made up a couple sacrificial anchors with a piece of cable and gallon cans and filled with lead. Used some el cheapo rope in case they got stuck. When the tide changed you had to up anchor and move to the other side of the bridge. Got smart and then tied off to the pilings under the bridge so when the tide changed just left the rope and let the tide swing the boat around. And yes did loose a few of those gallon can anchors.Frank
Lead broadheads don't add up...how would one cut anything? ....a fellow gave me an old lead anchor a while back...love those freebies. His brother in law is a shrimper near Beaufort and he's visiting in a couple of weeks. Hope to score a bunch of old net weights.
Sometimes it takes a second box of boolits to clear my head.
