There you go. Minute of rabbit size groups.
Haven't tried them in rifles but I find that in handguns, .38/.357/.44/.44 mag that they work just fine but your groups will increase by about a third in size.
If you are shooting three inch groups with the checks, you will get about 4 inch groups without them. For most people this is not an issue with handguns. I can't shoot well enough to tell the difference without half dozen sand bags and a 4x scope..

So far I have only found one rifle boolit that shoots as well without its check as it does with. For me it just seems to work better if you check the boolits that are designed to wear one. GP
Last week I grabbed a bunch of my lower weight culls from the first casting I did (July 27th) with my new NOE 325-180 Ranch Dog 8 mm mould. They were about 172 Gr Loaded up a bunch of the culls without gas checks & without sizing with 6.1 Gr bullseye for My GEW98 -Turked mauser. Shot 2- 10 shot groups at 50 yards Aperture Receiver sights and Globe aperture front sights Both targets were similar but the one below was the best........10 shots into about 1.125"
Just realized this was in the "Levergun Section! Hope you guys don't mind the mixed posting?

I have several handguns in 357 & 45 calibers and one rifle in 357 that shoot excellent with cast boolets without the Cas Checks installed for loads to at least 1,100 fps
Nice shootin'!
Sure it can be done...within limits. I think I'd recommend sticking with a plain-base style, or using cheaper aluminum GCs for simplicity instead, however.
As demonstrated above, you can even maintain pretty decent accuracy as long as you keep 'em relatively slow (compared to typical GC'd loads). Given the 'less-than-ideal' fit of this .309 Lee boolit in my micro-groove, I was pretty stoked to see this one:
