Do you mean use them with coatings..... or just use aluminum gas checks in general.... like in this forum?

KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.
I use them exclusively in .30 cal. No problems at all as far as accuracy, but they can be a little harder to put on. Make my own with a FreechexIII tool.
I only use Al checks upside down in the end of a 45LC to hold the #7 shot in when making snake loads! Al checks are too soft, go on with difficulty, and the ones I have used will not stay on, even over PC. I now only use commercially made Cu checks in 223, 30, and 45.
That's the view from my end.

The only GC's that i use are Aluminum. I make the GC's and I made the GC makers to my specifications so they produce GC's that work without problems on my projectiles.
I have used them in .30 cal with good results.

AZPaul are you loading them .308 230gr boolits subsonic? If so or actually at 1600 fps or slower you shouldn't need a gascheck.

That is all we use. By buddy and I are using them in all of our hornets, k hornets, 223's, 222, 221 fireball, 218 bee, 35 rem, 358's, 350 rem, 357 mags. They work just as well as the copper checks we have tried. We make them on a Freechex III tool.
I make mine with my handy dandy tool from Pat Marlin out of aluminum sheet from Ace Hardware. I get great results and it's easy to do. A little tedious to make them, but with patience after a while they start to really pile up and they are easy to install in a Lee sizer.
