Anybody got any old load books or notes for this powder in 12gauge and 45acp. Got 8 lbs in a 10 lb keg that smells good and hate to use it for fertilizer since my tomatoes are getting explosive.
Thanks Dave

I do know you can interchange Hodgdon Trap100 load data.

I don't know, but I have a number of the Winchester data brochures. Shall I check?
I have a eleventh edition Winchester pamphlet from 1991 that lists only two loads for .45 acp with 452AA.
Both are for a 185 grain WC FMJ .
The first is 4.0 grains 452AA for 685 fps at 11,500 CUP pressure.
Second is 4.5 grains 452AA for 770 fps at 13,800 CUP pressure.
The 12 gauge data is all for long discontinued hulls, unless you have a stash of Double A hulls. If you do it is usable for 1oz or 1 1/8 loads with WAA-12 wads, which I think you can still find.
Old style AA hulls I got so anything you got is welcome 4.5 under a 185 in 45acp sounds like something to try. Going to have to chrony to see if age has had an effect

Double A hull and Win 209 primer loads they have listed.
1 1/8 oz. 19.5 452AA with Win WAA-12 wad for 1145 fps at 9,400 LUP.
The same load is listed for FED209 primers at 9,200 LUP
1 1/8 oz. 20.5 452AA with Win WAA-12 was for 1200 fps at 10,100 LUP.
The same load is listed for FED209 primers at 10,000 LUP
I have loaded 4.5 grs. under an H&G68 200-grain SWC as a mild target load in .45ACP for years until I used up my caddy. Runs well through the Dillon.
You have one of my favorite powders for cast plinkers in any 30 caliber rifle. I don't give out data over the net but a few grains under a 130 plain base is my favorite plinker load. Think just under the speed of sound for the sweet spot. There are many other good powders but I like this one.

I used alot of 452 back in the day for 12ga and 45 acp , excellent powder !
Data from Speer's 11 reloading book for 45 acp
185gr tmj match-----4.3 to 4.7 gr @757 to 819fps
200gr tmj combat----4.3 to 4.8 gr@ 745 to 804 fps
200gr jhp-------------5.0 to 5.5 gr @868 to 916 fps
230gr jrn-------------4.7 to5.3 gr @780 to 825 fps
I've shot many a bunch of the .45 load Outpost75 posted above.
for 38 special loads I use:
3.0 gr 452AA under 158 gr cast
3.5 gr 452AA under upside down Hornady 148 gr. HBWC
Thanks everybody Got some great starting points to run thru the chrony.

Another good example of Winchester discontinuing an excellent powder for no reason.

Among the best for .45 ACP; used the last of my 452AA years ago.
Still have about 3 lbs left. Use it for 45 ACP target loads with a H&G 68.
Used lots of 452 in 45 ACP before it was discotinued.
230 gr TC NEI 451233, 4.5 gr
200 gr SWC H&G68, 5.2 gr, 917 fps out of 7" comp gun, and 5.0 gr gave 850 fps from 5" Gold Cup.

I didn't see it mentioned but if you don't know Winchester didn't discontinue 452AA they just renamed it to Winchester Super Target - WST. I used lots of this when it was 452AA and still use lots of it today as WST. Load it for my shot shells but found it works great in many cast bullet loads for my auto loading pistols. Burns clean and has less smoke than other powders with lead.
