Perfect for unwanted critters! Nice work, you gunna have fun widat
Good informative write-up. Thanks. I use Lyman 311316 for my cat sneeze loads.
I use a similar load with Ideal #3118 cast 1:30 tin/lead, and the Little Dandy measure rotor #0 for about 2.2 grains of Bullseye and it sounds like an air rifle.
I have tried the 3118 in my .30-30 but can't get it to shoot. It splatters all over the counryside. I literally can't keep it in a 24" target backer at 50 yards.
I know it is not the bullet. It shoots great in .30 carbine and several .32 cal revolvers.
I know it is not the rifle. It shoots 1.5" at 100 yards with the Lee 170 grain gc bullet.
What kind of accuracy do you get ? ? ?

Been using 2.7 gr Bullseye under the Speer 98 gr and Hornady 90 gr .32 cal swaged lead HBWCs for 20 years with very similar accuracy. Just have to bush them base 1st through a Lee .311 sizer for use in the 30-30.

Like I don't have enough irons in the fire as it is. Now you guys have me wanting to make bunny loads for my '94 trapper!
I expect inch 5-shot groups at 25 yards or 2 inches at 50 yards from a Winchester 94 with a load that is working. That's what 94 Winchesters do. I have found it important with the light bullets to keep the alloy soft and the loads light. You want to be able to scratch the bullet with your thumbnail, load the bullet as-cast and unsized, as long as rounds chamber and extract freely, light coat of lube and stay subsonic.
