    Swaging via fire forming

A new way to swage 30 caliber bullets down to 22 has been found with the introduction of the 300BLK. Here's an examination of the process. It seems more and more people are making use of the process.

Yep shoot 300 blk in a 5.56 mm barrel will make for a very bad day! So don't use it to swag 30's to .224's. Some folks have to learn the hard way firearms are not toy's. Do stupid things and they will make you learn the lessons the hard way! So you got a pic od what was left of the receiver? Probably not much! Any picks of the fool who pulled the trigger!

The page I found it on said there was some damage to the receiver, no pics or mention of anyone getting hurt. Judging by the condition of the case head I'd say receiver and operator suffered a major gas attack.

The cartridge was obviously "underloaded" ...the bullet did not even make 1/2 way to the muzzle....sure hope he uses more powder next time.

The person who performed the autopsy figured the 30 cal bullet had telescoped back into the case upon loading.

Case was probably full or they'd have used more. Maybe they should go with something faster, like Bullseye.

Like the old German squeeze bore round but the taper was a bit too aggresive. Something like 13.2mm in a bore tapered down to 7mm.

I'd put money on it, it was a 220 gr Sub load! Not enough power to get the bullet out of the barrel but plenty to bust the case head. We had another Einstein pull this with a super load ( 147gr FMJ load I do believe) and not only did the bullet leave the barrel, his receiver was nothing but splinters. Had PMAG tattooed on his forearm! Along with the shrapnel embedded. Unfortunately most Factory ammo for the 300 Blk has ZERO crimp. So yes if your dumb enough to send one into a 5.56 mm chamber it will fire. And the results will not be fun. As I said before Firearms are not toys -makes a mistake - and it might be your last.

I could see someone who had no knowledge that alot of 300 blk brass has been converted from 5.56 so if some Joe Blow somehow gets his hands on some of that ammo and only relies on the head stamp well...........

Yep and totally blind to the fact that there's a big fat 30 caliber bullet stuck in the end of it!

That's a big old 180 gr SP in the 300 Blk. Compared to a little 55 Gr SP in 5.56mm! As a shooter if you can't tell one doesn't belong in your AR 15 .223/5.56mm maybe one should find a dfferent hobby- like basket weaving ! This also shows just how far one must push the 300 Blk bullet into the case to get it to chamber and fire. So even loaded as that 180gr is at sub velocities it will generate enough pressure to blow the case and stuff the bullet into the rifling as shown in the first post. Now triple the pressure(90-100,000 PSI) one would get with a supper load and you can imagine what will happen.

I've seen some pretty dumb stuff, but that takes the cake if that's for real and not staged. I wouldn't trust that moron to weave baskets either. He'd find a way to screw that up too.

I don't have a blackout rifle or a piece of brass, Someone who has both a blackout an 223 can answer this simple question "can a empty blackout casing enter a 223 chamber" The photo looks like the short cartrige neck is no bigger than the shoulder of the 223.
