My M28-76 Mosin has given me fits with a really long throat with some helpful replies here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/show...light=decipher . I have been plinking with a very accurate Lyman 311334 load with 11gr of Unique, but bumping up the .299" nose to .301" while sizing is a pain. It gave me the trigger time to get used to the scope's odd reticle, it is like looking through a 4x magnified peep sight and I actually like it now. NOE's 311331 looked like it would fill it up, plus I picked up a Lyman 311466 that was similar(but lighter) to the recommended design in that thread. All were cast at 14 BHN except the ones loaded with 5744(20 BHN), and used TAC1 lube with a light tumble in 45/45/10 on that long nosed 311331. The harder alloy dropped 20gr lighter and .003" bigger in the bands and on the nose.
First up was the 311466, and the bottom target's 13.5gr of Unique made me pretty happy:
I then shot the my 311331 Unique loads, and the top target 12gr load brought a grin to my face:
Would 2400 work well? Yep, the top target's 18gr is definitely a contender:
Finally, could I speed it up a little? I hope so with the top target's 27gr 5744 load:
I think I found the design for this rifle, and next up is load them all back up to test around those loads and head to the 100 yard range with the chronograph. Hopefully with a bit less wind.
