Most in the 150 to 170 range will work very well.

The Lee 155gr SKS bullet and Lyman 311440 are some of my favorites.

The SKS boolit, however, is pointed. I shoot mine from a Contender with no issues. There are plenty of other options, though.

Hands down favorite is the Lyman 311041.

It will run 170 - 180 gr depending on alloy.

It is "the standard" for the 30-30 and is excellent in the '06 also, including M1s.

Accurate 31-165A, FP, GC, big front band like a bore rider. Works well in my 308 & MG 30/30 (pretty good sans GC at reasonable fps). Tom has the 041 & Lyman versions as well. Moulds are top notch
    Whatever!

I have been getting good results with the Lee 303 mold, sized to.311 in my old 94. It's a little pointed but you can put one in the chamber and a backup in the tube.

+1 on Larrys' But don't pass on the 311407, the 30-30 and 407 were made for each other.

I highly recommend an Accurate Mold rendition of the 311041 sized for your rifle. It is the one for .30 WCF and works well in other .30 rifles.

If a 94 will not shoot the 311041......bury the gun it has been infected with something reallllly bad.

Amen to that. The Winchesters I've played with all had pretty tight throats and the 311041 is just about perfect, unlike my worn-out Marlin, which dotes on the Ranch Dog designs that the Winny won't even think about chambering.

I shoot the RD 165 in my Marlin. No winchesters here.
You will learn far more at the casting, loading, and shooting bench than you ever will at a computer bench.

13 posts and nobody mentioned the RCBS 180 FP. My Win 94 30-30 loves that or the RCBS 150.

My Marlin likes the Lee 170 FP. My mould drops them at .311, which is what I size them as I lube and gas check them. If you want to pass 1600 fps you will want a gas check. The Lee 150 FP I got recently drops at .310 and seems to shoot as well as the 170, but I haven't really proven that yet.

+1 on the RCBS 30-180 fn. For a Winchester, they are nearly perfect. Sometimes too small for Marlins though. I also like the 311-041, the 311-291, and the 311-465. That last makes a great varmint/small game boolit. I have also achieved solid results at short , <50 yards, range with the 311-245.
However, just about any reasonably flat nosed boolit of 130-180 grains will work ok. It's hard to pick a loser.
