    The Ultimate BB Gun

Worth watching: The Ultimate BB Gun---Some Interesting History

Worth watching: The Ultimate BB Gun---Some Interesting HistoryThis is an incredible story that explains how the Lewis and Clark expedition intimidated the Indians and were never seriously threatened.
This is the air rifle that Lewis and Clark took on their expedition and AMAZED the Indians!
It takes 1500 strokes to pump this rifle to full pressure, after which it could shoot more than 400 . 46 cal . round balls, each of which can blast a clean hole through a 1 inch pine board at 100 yards.
This is a VERY interesting gun! How many of you very gun- knowledgeable folks out there even knew that a rifle like this ever existed, especially back then?
This video is with sound and great on full screen .

heard of that gun a few years ago and I really wondered how much have we improved over that gun with todays generic air rifles?

it couldnt shoot 400 shots with one fill.

I thought is had near 40 shots. It shoots a big bullet with out a lot of power. By that I mean it cannot come near a muzzle loader for power.

This gun comes up on the Muzzloader fourms from time to time. It only has around 40 shots and a they had a slave with them to pump it because if was such a chore. I always thought it was tethered , May be wrong about that

I live right on the Lewis and Clark trail where the Snake River meets the Columbia. They could have waked though my property as I am on the bluff above the river. They had a reinactment camp for the schools last summer down the road from me.The fellows that were these actually knew quite a bit about the airgun.I thought the were just cross dressers but they knew the flintlock/guns and woods crafts of the period pretty well. It was great for al the school kids and I learned bunch too.
