Anyone tried it?
Anyone tried it?
Like the White, and also the picture of the fracture repair of the Calcaneus.
Mine didn't cover anywhere near as well as Beetmagnet's when I dry-tumbled with white, even after 2 coats. Neither did Yellow, for me. Just Red, and it worked great with 1 coat. -Brad
I am terribly sorry...I did not see the word tumble on my phone browser. Mine were done with the ES gun.
I went to hf they sold 6 bottles of red since the last time I was there it was either white at 399 or yellow at 549 maybe I should just get the gun
Why do those bullets look wet?!?
Probably because he dropped them in water right out of the oven to harden (heat treat) them.
I dry tumbled with hf white last weekend. It worked. White seems to make a thin coat, and it is the first color to flow when baked with other color boolits.
I did 30/30 in white dry tumble - worked fine even with a few bald spots. Pic in rifle accuracy thread. 165 gr. without the check, ~1600 fps.
fracture repair of the Calcaneus. - sizer fixes that.
Whatever!

kinda sexy looking with the water droplets on them, maybe i'll show my wife this pic before i chase her around the house this weekend
Don't worry, he's just gonna swat her with the newspaper...
:>)
I wanted to say thanks to whoever mentioned dry-tumbling, might as well
put it here. My solvent attempts almost made me give up on PC, too lumpy
and some boolits would just fly off course, maybe 6 feet off at 50 yards.
Dry tumble makes a smooth even coating of powder, excess powder falls off
with a tap of the hemostats (tweezers, pliers) on the side of the can but the
boolit remains evenly powdered. Baking makes it flow together I guess 'cause
they came out real smooth, even the base gets a nice coat.
(Maybe not as nice as those hotrod boolits but I think they were waxed at a body shop!)
I took a pic but it wasn't that great, will try again. Need to load & shoot 'em...
I think it was Frank (Freightman) who discovered the dry tumble method. He never really got any credit for his findings. It took quite a while to start catching on, the concept was so simple, people did not think it would work. I finally gave it a try, and my es gun has been sitting on a shelf ever since. They may not look quite as good as the es, but I think the dry tumble gives you a more even coat. When using the es gun, I was having problems with too much build up on the nose of the boolit, causing some of my rifle boolits to get stuck in the chamber. People think of the es coating being more even because of the slick finish, but I have found the opposite to be true. Different brands and colors give different results. I recently bought 3 colors from allpowderpaints.com and have been very happy with the results (almost look as good as es)
These are 1 coat, the green should be brighter, a very small amount of blue was in tumbler and mixed in with the green
Too bad Freightman's method never got a catchy title
Those are good looking, Mike. I have only tumbled the HF red and mine have a matte look to them. They shoot exactly the same as ES, but I don't get that smooth finish. I can't tell any difference over the chrony or on the target.
I tumbled a couple of hundred yesterday. (compressor issues wouldn't let me spray)
KE4GWE - - - - - - Colt 1860, it just feels right.
so dry PC tumble works fine? could give that a try maybe.
