Nothing says Merry Chrisdmas like a bucket of lead!

Has been a great Christmas vacation for me. I usually do most of my lead scrounging in the summer months, but since I had two full weeks off I thought I'd try some of my usual productive places. Ended up with about three 5 gallon buckets full. By current NYS standards, I'll be happy if that all nets me about two or three gallons of good usable lead. I'll take that!

Congrats! I'd be curious to know the ratio of lead to non-lead.

Wilco, I've been averaging about 30% lead in a typical bucket. A really good one might go almost 50%, but 25-30% is typical.

A real score is when you get a bucket that is at least 5 or 6 years old, some of those are almost all lead, minus the usual wrappers, valve stems, etc.

Do you buy these bucket as per bucket or by the pound? What would I want to pay for a bucket?

Yeah, the waste today is making WW scrounging a pretty depressing endeavor. Here's hoping your waste is more zinc than steel. You can trade the zinc to Shady Grady one for one.

I even save the steel ones, they go right in my " steel drop bucket' that has cut off ends, nuts bolts, ect. They go to the scrap yard about once a year and it all adds up.
