Accurate #9 whatcha think ? 44mag. 357, 38 spl, 45acp,

Accurate #9 -- is this the same as AA#9, ACC#9 ?
There may be some available At the LGS not sure yet.
I know nothing about this powder but I have read that it is kinda like 2400, not the same but almost.
Also that it likes heavier bullets. Should I give this powder a look see for 240grain and up bullets in the 44 mag.
and 150 grain and up for the 38/357 Low funds make mistakes costly.
I know what I know and I sure don't mind asking when I don't know.

It's really too slow for 45acp and 38spl. Should be fine for 357 and 44mag

Well, although I've not used any in a few years, I did burn about a pound in my .44 Magnum in the early '90s. IIRC it's a fine ball powder; easy metering. I used it mostly for full Magnum loads with 250+ gr. bullets and a good firm crimp. Got some pretty accurate loads in my Ruger SBH and 629. I think it's close to 2400, but like you say, not the same. My chart shows it to be closer to the same burn speed as H110/W296, too slow for the .38 Special and 45 ACP. Lots of loads for the .357 Mag. and .44 Mag. in my Lyman 49th...

I'd say it's close to 2400 but a little slower and it's faster than H110 lites easier too. also a pretty close match to Enforcer.

I don't use it in any of the cartridges you list, but it works well in my 300 blk with a pistol length gas system and 130gr - 200gr loads.

According to my Lyman manual, the #9 starts at 17.5 grains for the Lyman 245 (429421) grain SWCKT. 2400 starts at 18.5 for the same boolit.

Like the ball powder that it is it won't work well reduced, just like H-110. Yes, it does best with heavy boolits. It's a great powder with full loads & a heavy boolit to get it burning. Never tried it in either 38 Spec or the 45 ACP, not too sure that would work all that well.

I recall reading that it makes a good low flash load in the 44,41 and 357 mags. I can't say as I never shot it at night, but I like it in those cartridges. I don't think that it does much that I cannot do with H110. I use std primers with #9.

It will work fine in almost any pistol round. I've used in 38/357, 9mm, 45auto& colt. Not good for downloading. Actually works pretty good at near max. I consider it a very handy powder to keep on hand. Lots of data at accurate's website.

I would agree that AA#9 is their slow powder for heavy magnum loads
I have used AA#2, AA#5, AA#7, and AA#9
2 is the fast powder they get progressively slower to 9 as you might expect
for target loads I tended to use 2 and 5
at some point I switched over to WST for my fast powder
