    Question Looking for decent palm rest

    I have a hankering to do something odd. Who makes a decent reproduction of a late 1880s to early 1900s palm rest? I can do simple inletting with my mill as needed. There should be a hooked buttplate somewhere, so having a bull barrel won't pivot the rifle forward.

    BTW, I found a hooked buttplate already slotted and with a correct tube for use with a Remington 540-XR. Now I can use my Freeland "Mr. Cairo" #2 (IIRC) palm rest without having to hold onto the pistol grip with a vice.

    MVA also makes the hardware for palm rests. I'm not certain if they sell the wood, or if you have to handle that yourself.

    You can make a neat old fashioned looking palm rest out of an old porcelain doorknob. I've got a couple if you want to try one.

    I once made one with a billiard ball, a hunk of ready-thread, some brass tubing, and a t-nut. Lots of ways to skin this cat.

    CPA should have what you are looking for. Butplate and palmrest.

    Bought a CPA Pope-Style, Nickel, with a 3" knob. It came from PA to WI in under 3 days (IIRC). Very fast shipping. Looks good.
