It's a very poor time to be stepping into this venue of life. The first golden age was pre-1968. The second golden age started in 1986 when the import ban was lifted. We are now seeing the closing of the 2nd age of crufflerism. What makes the ages golden? Prices. In 1986 a m/96 Swedish Mauser could be had for $49. By December 1997 it was $90.
Three years ago I sold 3 Swedish Mausers, two m/96 and one m/94 carbine: $2,200. Great time to sell. Real bad time to buy.
What is left now are crumbs.

Depends, I find Gunbroker and private sales are my best methods of acquiring good milsurps. Sometimes putting a "WTB" thread on Gunboards also can pan out quite nicely. I got a Browning Hi-Power pre-WW2 with tangent sights and a stock cutout this way for a good price from a private seller, and I honestly wasn't expecting that WTB thread to pan out.
