Dad went into hospice on Monday morning. I loaded the car with a few bags and the family for the three-hour drive to SW Washington where we met a large group of family by his side.
After a full day struggling to breathe, Dad finally rested easy. Tuesday afternoon, surrounded by those who loved him, he passed on to be with his Lord.
I thank God we were able to be there for him, my Mom and for us. It was a heartbreaking moment when he passed, but one of my brothers was able to compose himself long enough to say a prayer for his soul. I could not gain composure enough to do so.
He was a good man who raised five children as best he could. Taught me everything about independence, self-reliance, honesty, truth, hard work and how to be a good husband and Father.
I will miss him dearly.
