Sight hood fixing tool homemade in 5 mins

    Hi Guys,

Took me 3 weeks to think of this money saving idea, i dont like spending.

    items needed.

    1. piece flat steel bar, min size 4cm long 12mm wide and about 5mm thick.
    2. large hacksaw.
3.Vice (not miami vice or vice squad) ha ha.

Cut a 4cm piece of the flat bar, next mark out 12mm at one end and 5mm at other end
draw a line between them and cut with hacksaw.
Lastly place in vice and with hacksaw cut a groove in the 5mm thick side, in the centre, about a 1.5mm and repeat for other side.
Thats it your tool done, yours to keep forever.

A few tips on using it.

if you need to open up the sight hood to get the tool it, just place sight hood on floor and using a round screw driver press it inbetween the open sides, then place the tool in and tap with hammer, this will release the screw driver.

Place the hood on a metal bench edge and clamp it, so you can tap the tool just over 1/2 way into the hood edges, so it should be open at the max nearly.
Unclamp and get someone to hold the rifle, get hold of the sight hood tool with a pair of
pliers and place over sight, line up grooves on front sight and tap the hood off gently with a piece of flat bar, if you dont get it into the grooves just push with hands or rubber mallet.

Job done, now dont take the hood off again

    Sounds well done.

I just take the sight hoods off and throw them away!
