    45 HP Mold, Suggestions

Considering casting again after thirty plus years. Used to cast a .308 HP w/gas check using Lyman mold. Found Lyman 180 gr .452 mold (#452374). Suggestions about this or any other mold for 180-200 gr. .452 HP? Hope I put this in right spot.
    Thanks

The 452374 ( in solid form ) should weigh about 230 grs.

I just checked MidWay's website , the Devastator HP version of that mold ( 452374 ) does weigh 180 grs. according to MidWay's add.

45HP - First, Welcome to the madness.... Second, Can't tell specifically what you are looking for in terms of advice. I can say that the 452374 is a VERY popular mold for the 45ACP. Like Ben said, generally 230 grains. There are numerous 200 grain molds available for the 45ACP also, most of them very good for accuracy. The most popular probably are the Lee 200 gr, the Lyman 452460 is very good and maybe the best is the H&G 68 200 gr and most of the available clones. We have some SUPER custom mold makers on this site. They can be found in the Vendor/Sponsor section.
enjoy your search. Mike Whoops ~!!! Just noticed you were looking for a HP design. Again, the custom makers will fix you right up with one of those. I think the only one commercially available is the Lyman Devastator.

MP molds makes a 452 200gr HP mold that is viciously accurate. 5.3gr of 231 and this bullet will shoot better than you can all day long in a 1911.

I am sorry but I do not know MP, I am guessing it a manufacture. Also the Lyman #452374 can also be a 230gr. RN in a double cavity. Saw some on Ebay, the mould had that number on it. Email Lyman about this but as of yet have not heard back.
Found Hollow Point Bullet Mold Service who will make any mold from yours I guess into a hollow point. They have three in stock (160,200,and 230 gr.) base on Lee moulds. I have never used an aluminum mould so I am a little nervous about them, since I can not find the alloy used in the mold.
If I can get the name of MP or there URL, I will take a look at them.
By the way is it MOLD or MOULD?
    Thanks for responses,
    Bill

Sorry, glad you found the site. There are several reports in the closed GB section about the Mihec .45 200g Cramer HP boolit. It is a joy to cast and shoot.

It looks like the Mihec .45 200g Cramer HP is now the MP 452 200gr HP. I am still waiting from MP-Mold on the alloy used to make the mold (mould). If it is indeed a copper alloy such as brass then I am going to buy it. By the way spell checkers give mold for mould.

I have the MP mould for the 200 gr H.P. It is a DANDY. If you cast it of the appropriate alloy, it will expand to .80 caliber (read the results complete with pictures):
