    New clothes for my 03-A3

As many of you may remember I purchased an 03-A3 a while ago that was in probably an old Herter's stock. It looked like this:Click image for larger version.

I purchased a C stock from CPM. Yes, I know, but the manual says these were optional. It was an apparent drop in fit. I say apparent because I have never held one and do not know if it is supposed to fill the hand quite as much as it does. Anyway, it was drop in inletted and sealed. After six coats of tung oil this is what she looks like:Click image for larger version.

I'm waiting on one bolt. I need to get a 3/32 drill bit and run it though the hole for the nose piece. Then put that bolt in. She will be finished. Then to get to the range!

Mike, one of the range masters, has already claimed shooting privileges!

I've got some 165gr SPBT blems (Hornaday?) that I have loaded with 46.4gr RE15. Should be about 2700fps. I have a couple hundred of those. I have a one cavity 308291 (Ideal) but the nose is a tad loose in the muzzle. In the future I will need a mold or two for this.

It's been sold to a member here. Because of that I have a total of about $405 into the rifle. Just got a bolt from Ray's Surplus from eBay. Wrong bolt! He sent me the through stock bolt for the bayonet metal rather then the bolt for the upper band. I hope they will make it right.

Always nice to see one put back as close to original as possible. It should be a good shooter if at all like my 1903a3s.

Oh well, the guy on eBay who runs Ray's Surplus has no idea what he's selling. He advertised a bolt as the upper band bolt, the one I need. I gave him the bolt # from the Ordinance Manual that he sent me and the # of the one I need. I asked him to send me the correct bolt. The answer he sent back was if it looks like the picture he knows nothing else about it. He did offer to refund my money if I returned the bolt to him.

I still need the right bolt.
