Lost a thread. Upgrading Lyman 45 handles and pivots

I just saw it this morning and now I can't find it.

    I've got a 45 with a broken pivot bolt.

Post a picture of what you have. Also read all of the thread before you start. There are changes along Jons process.

    Snake,
If you just want to replace the "Y" bolt, which I assume is broken, I can help you out...I see your coffeytime link...I'd be happy to trade for some fresh roasted "extra" finely ground expresso grade coffee.

    Jon,
Thanks for the offer. The bolt that broke was the one in the front that had the 1/4" fine thread, the 5/16" shoulder, and the large slotted screw head. I'm guessing what I need to do is drill out the threads and put a 5/16" shoulder bolt with a nut on it in there.

Coffey time images is my wife's photography company, which she has pretty much let lapse for the last year or so.

    Oh ?!?
I thought you were selling coffee...my Bad

I don't have that exact "original" bolt, in fact I don't think I've ever seen one. I thought the ones with the 1/4" fine thread had a 1/4" shoulder for a handle with a 1/4" hole...well you must have another variation that I am unaware of ?
    ANYWAY,
It'd be a shame to drill out (modify) the upper cast piece. but with that said, I have done that with one where the 1/4" fine threads were striped. I drilled that upper cast piece out to 5/16" and used a modified 5/16" bolt and used it with one of my Rev II handle kits.

zoom in on "C" to see what I have done. Besides the hex head mod. The bolt was originally longer (2.5" maybe ?), you want the 5/16" shoulder to be long enough to go through the upper cast piece as well as nearly all the way through the handle.

I do have some of these if you aren't able to find the correct bolt and modify it yourself, if that is the route you choose to go.
    Good Luck,
    Jon

PS, found a photo of one of my bolts on a press with an original handle.
