Well, we have a Chaparall arms 40-60 in the shop...

And I'll have the Quigley out of layaway in 2 weeks...

Anyone here have any loading data for 40-60, preferably not black powder?

    Thanks.

I noticed that site as I was perusing the internets. I'd love to pay, but seeing as it's yearly, and I like books on my shelf forever I just can't do it.

I am finding info elsewhere, but I was hoping there was a member or two here that could help me out with more. But I'll take what I can get.

I'm going to put it up Thursday if it's still there.

I offered the information that I found. It was up to the OP to decide if he liked it.

A friend on another forum always says "just 30% of a case of blue dot, then reduce 10% to start"
Works for him, but I have never had any blue dot to try it with as I have a bunch of Herco and AA#9, never will live long enough to use it up and have been able to get a satisfactory plinking and target load with them, so far!

It's safely put away now. Went and grabbed it Wed. Comes with 40 pieces Jamison brass, and about 70 240gr bullets. With clear mystery lube on em. Plus a RCBS die set in .406 as well.

Ordering the two Lyman dies for it today, and a .406 and maybe a .407 sizer, the Quigley comes out today! I've already loaded up 100 rounds for it, now I have to start casting cores for by BT_Sniper swaging dies, then cast some 210gr bullets for the 40-60.

It's going to be a great year.

How the hell did I go from collecting Ar-15s and Type M and D SKS's to THIS extreme?

    I blame you guys!

Del-Ray, then buy the Lyman Reloading 49th Edition. Another reference is Cartridges of the World

It's your fault! If you had stated with "extreme" rifles instead of those black ones - you wouldn't have had to come to Cast Boolits asking for help!

Rifle slugged at .405". Comes with a set of 40-60 dies in .406".

Also came with 40 Jamison brass. Which apparently they aren't making anymore, or at least haven't since the company was bought out over a year ago....

I have Lyman #49, nothing in it about 40-60, unless it's just mentioned somewhere that's not listed in the appendix.
Checked my #45, and nothing in that either.

I found a load in my Handloader's guide to cartridge conversions. But it uses a 240gr bullet, and I'm going with a 210gr. traditional weight.

I think it's time to order me a copy of Cartridges of the world. I see the newest version moved a bunch of rounds to a CD, so maybe I should get the 12th version? Or is there a better earlier version? I don't care so much for brand new cartridges, I can find entire fanboy sites dedicated to why a brand new expensive cartridges kill things even better....

    Thanks again.
