    H&R Buffalo Classic

i broke my right wrist 35 years ago and at 63years old it now gives me trouble,i did not wont to put a pistol grip stock on it and spoil the look of the gun so i made a sharps style pistol grip and it works great.

Nice! The only thing I would change is the finish on the stock is too shiny for my taste.

you could check ebay. And some of the rifles can with a .584 front sight that sight will give you good elev so you can shoot 200 to 300 yards shot and have still more elev if you need it. I had to mill .010 off the rear sight base to get to mount flush to the barrel. The numbers on the sight will be no good because the 30/40 is going 2200fps and my 500gr is going 1219fps. Have fun with the rifle I do I shoot black powder in my rifle. If you need any help P.M me. Happy New Year to all. And God Bless.

A lower 17A is a good start. A single shot doesn't have much heat distortion.

With the factory rear sight I installed a Lyman 17 .404 front sight but with Krag sight I had to install a Lyman 17 .584 this sight is the sight that came on the rifle.

You may easily attach any Soule sight of your choice to the tang area of the Buffalo Classic by using two different methods. I did my first one by inserting the brass threaded pieces that are sold to use in cabinet work or furniture assembly. They are available in differrent sizes and come with the needed screws. I used a Sharps 74 spacing on mine.
The second method is to inlay a piece of steel into the stock that is threaded and spaced to receive your choice of sight.
By using either method you make the rifle as it was sold in the 19th century and it also makes it legal for use in SASS and other rifle matches.
If you order the mounts for tang mounting, you will receive two wood screws which I don't care for as they are subject to wear or pulling out of the threads if hit or dropped. The sight will have movement.
