I just bought a 15" 6.5 Bullberry barrel for my Contender. It has a 1:9 twist. Is that fast enough to stabilize a 140grn boolit? It should be moving about 1800 fps. Thanks!

I shoot so that I can handload.
Ditto what Gear said.
If you are going to make a hole in something. MAKE IT A BIG ONE!
The 6.5x55 Carl Gustaf Model 63 target rifles have a 220mm twist = 1:8.66". The primary bullet weight for them is 139 gr.

FWIW, my old 6.5 x .257 is on a 6.5 Arisaka that is supposed to be a 9" twist. It stabilizes the Lyman 266469 at 140 grains just fine at around 1500 fps+. Seems to be real fond of IMR3031 with a touch of Dacron since the gas check is well below the case neck.
