    This year's new hunting bullet!!!!

Should I start with the pics?

Bullets pictured are 190 grain 40 calibers with a swaged Airsoft BB tip. These are bonded as well. I'll be using bullets like this in my 40-308 for NE Oregon mule deer hunting this year.

    Check it out!

Horandy 200 grain 40 cal muzzel loader bullets for about 55 cents a piece or make them yourself from 9mm brass, a bit of lead and a Airsoft BB for about a penny! I think mine look better

If Nosler made a 40 cal muzzel loader accubond bullet thy could only hope it looked like this

OK I'll try to stay humble but I have been working on this ballistic tip challenge in the back of my mind for a couple years. Spent two nights in the shop and I was impressed with the results. One of those moments when everything came together just right!

I have been too "chicken" to even try to work through the learning curve for the soft noses on the bullets. I still have the original strip of pink/purple ski inserts.....

So, congrats on not only getting into the learning curve, but obviously becoming an expert at it.

How do you eject them without damaging the nose?

    QUOTE]

Do you know what I love about this photo BT? I love that when I first looked at it, the one is made of brass (yours) and one is made out of copper (theirs) had not even crossed my mind. I was questioning in my mind what one was yours?

Fantastic looking projectiles you are making here.

    Thanks Guys!

I actually went out and shot them today! They did very well! I'm attempting to upload pics but photo bucket is giving me problems.

Lube groove.... YEP! Been there done that! I actually filled it once for teh heck of it. Took a pic and posted it here a while back.

Thanks Utah! They are turnig out very well. It is nice to see I can still make good bullets. I spend so much time now making the dies. I spend a lot of time thinking things threw in my mind then somtimes when I'm lucky it developes in the real world just as I imagine it would. This ballistic tip was one of those cases where it all came together in only a couple nights work. Other projects where not so quick or lucky, like the XTP notch tip, took me more then a year to get that one right.

Damaged nose..... you can see in the last pic of my first post that I actually turn teh bb into the balistic tip. Then it is simply a matter of inserting it in the nose of the bullet. PRICELESS!

I'll have some pics and data soon, I hope, dang photobucket!

    2360 FPS with 223 grain bullets, 4 out of 5 went .8 @ 100 yrds!!!!

I'll get pics up when I can. Photo editor and posting is giving me fits on photobucket!

Here is my 223 grain 40 cal hunting bullet for this year. I took it out yesterday and got some very good results.

Loaded up to 2360 FPS in my 40-308 I was very pleased with results!

Recovered weight was average 150 grains from wet newspaper. This target was shot at 50 yrds. First shot with new scope was way high left then next two was 3/4" low under bull. Up 3 clicks and BOOM! Dead on! So I proceeded to shoot at the small red dots in the square grid pattern. Did pretty darn good! White stickers where from old target. Oh yeah, I was shooting of the hood of teh truck too. Kind of wobbly.

I'll have more pics up soon.

Here is the 100 yrd 5 shot group. The hole nearest the bull has two bullet holes. the 4 shots equal .8" while teh 5 shots equals 1.5" Had a 5-10MPH wind from right to left. I didn't bother correcting and bullets struck left of bull as result.

Yep! Lots of work to do I rarely get to make any bullets anymore that are not customer die related. It's nice to see I can still put a good accurate bullet together. As for actually going out shooting......... think this might have been my 5th or 6th time this year. It's hard to keep ones sanity shooting so little.

I figure with the results I'm getting from the 40-308 and these new bullets a few more shooters and swagers out there will want to be shooting more 40 cals!

Not to worry the shop is in full prodution, but for the moment it is a one man shop

    I'll do my best.

    BT

p.s. Among my severial orders I'm working on right now the 30 cals are also top of the list. If you wanted one I would be happy to put one together for you.
