I know I can have one cut anyway I want, just wondering if any of you guys swage 30 caliber flat nose to use in tube fed magazines? Imterested in what weights and what your using to make them?

Here you go. I made these few bullets a long time ago using improved CH dies and FN5.7X28 brass cut at shoulder for jackets. Bullet weight was 150 grains. I forget the dameter of the meplat/nose of the bullet, think it was .155

Just a side note for those of you that notice the rounded swaged base to the bullet.
I spit a CH 30 cal core seat die while experimenting on that project. I was applying way TO MUCH pressure. Ya Think! I later determined it was not worth the effort and harm to the die.

Thanks BT that looks perfect loaded, would surely need cannelure on those too.
Cannelure?
I never crimp jacketed rifle rounds.
And, I only "crimp" cast rifle rounds because I bell mouth the cases slightly to get the bullet in. Those get a very light crimp, just to push the brass back into place.
And, cannelures are not there as a guide for where to seat to. You should always seat to recommended depths, which for swaged bullets from case jackets, is a matter of load development.
Brian, that 30-30 polished round looks amazing. Obviously, that was a special push out pin/metplat combo.

On the 30cal projectiles that are swaged, I'm curious if it's at all possible to use the notching die from BT's pistol swage die set on the swaged rifle boolits.

I tried it on the small 22 cal, the bullet didn't form up to well. I did have sucess with it on the 30 cal bullet like the one pictured above. So long as it has a larger meplat the XTP notch will work very well. The smaller the meplat??????? Well anything is possible I always say.
Lets see I took a pic here somwhere, these are from the same die with the .155 meplat that I made a small Hp for, actually sent some off to a 30-30 shooter, don't recall how he did with them. I imagine I could have made it look even better with the XTP notch on these. From teh looks of it I think the jacket was a little to long and teh notch a little to deep but it worked! This was quite a while ago though, it might have been notched with one of my early generation notch dies. Maybe even better results can be obtained with my lattest version? I think the next product should be a XTP punch that scores teh inside of teh riffle cal jacket....... hummm?

i think i would rather have the exposed lead flat point in a 30-30.
i know that the old style cut point will open very well if you cut the jaxket [in the core seat die]
leave a bit of exposed lead, and flatten the nose.
using a 180gr core and 5-6 more grains of lead. in the 44 die.
this is a best of both worlds type boolit, you get good initial penetration and then enough expansion to make a difference.
this is how i do my 255 gr hunting bullets.
if you don't cut the jaxket and leave a good bit of lead exposed and use the big holow point stem they will mushroom enough to separate the core/jaxket.
this is how i do my 315 gr 44's
BT I don't see much of that brass round my parts, any way I can use 9mm and bottom halves of 223 like you did in your other thread?

Same die? How many draws to get it to 30 caliber?
223 rem works well. It takes three draw dies to get it to 30 cal.
