Skylighter has a sale on prilled potassium nitrate for $.89 a pound. The small print is that you have to order $40 worth of something else and get 10lb of the KNO3 by the end of the day (13th).

That's a good price. Just remember that prilled means in little balls. You'll most likely (?) need to grind it up fine to make black powder with it. Unless you do the dissolve in water and mix recipe for making. Once dissolved, it should be good to go.

If you order enough from Skylighter they stuff your order with it for free. I cannot tell you how many pound I have gotten and not ordered it. That is why I am interested in making my own powder.

Heck, I have so much KNO3 that I use it as nitrates to burn stumps.

Here in a good deal on 10lb & not prilled stuff.I have used it in the past & is 99% pure.

Your local feed store should have it. It comes in prill form for drilling into stumps. I think it is just called stump remover. Avaliable in one pound and five pound cans.

Before I discovered other sources I got some prilled from Walmart as Spectracide stump remover. Supposed to be 99% and that was what was in the powder that I killed my deer with last year. It might also be available at Lowe's and Home Depot. It does run about $5 a pound though.

Just kill two birds with one stone.Buy your sulfur & Kno-3 from these folks.
There surfur is cheap also.

Most greenhouses should have it for sale this time of year. It is used as a soil amendment.

You don't need the sulfur but it lowers the flash point of the BP. I have used sugar but don't know how much that would lower the flash point, if at all.

Home Depot,,, No gots,,, Lowe's,,, $5.97 a pound.
It went up lately, last year it was about four bits cheaper.
Just cost me $23.88 plus the governors Gouge for 4 cans.

I don,t understand why someone wanting to make there own BP doe's
not just order the ingredients over the net.The web sites that are posted
are some of the best prices & there is nothing illgal to any of it.

The prices are good, it's the shipping that gets you. The shipping to my zip code is $14.40 for one pound of Potassium nitrate. And they can't ship the sulfur or charcoal with it. To buy one pound of potassium nitrate would be $4.50 plus $14.40 shipping or $18.90. One pound of Willow charcoal is $8.50 and one pound of Sulfur is $4.50 plus shipping of $14.14 (they can ship those two together) or $26.64. The only way to really save money with them is to buy the potassium nitrate in 10 lb. lots.

You might try your local drug store or fertilizer dealer. Around here since there is no longer sulfur in diesel, that is starting to show up as a deficiency on soil tests for farms. It is also used for some ornamental plants and bushes.
