I was at Stage I the past couple days. Turning good WW's into nice 2.75lb ingots. About 588 pounds I calculate.
This coming week, we make the boolets...

about 100 .735 round balls for the shotgun.
Precision in the wrong place is only a placebo.
I rendered and cast about 35 pounds of little muffins out of scrap from the shooting range pit. Have about 20 pounds more in the bucket to do. (that was about 2 minutes worth of shoveling) Also while that was melting I resized and trimmed a bunch of .223 brass.
This stuff smells like a tire fire when I melt it.
Took advantage of the good weather a friend and I spent 3 hours turning 200 lbs of lead into ingots. Nice way to spend a sunny afternoon.
used my brand new 358429 this morning, made almost 150 water dropped. Lubed and sized them loaded 60 in 38 spl using 10 rns 5gr unique, 10rns 5.5 unique, 10 rns 5.9 unique. then ten of each at 11, 11.5, 12 grns2400. not shooting for accuracy just to shoot. Do like that round. Will make more and then try for accuracy.
HI,
Did 20 each the last 2 Saturdays. all 7MM'S.
IT IS SIZING & LUBE SEASON ALREADY !
Did 800 44's last 2 days.
I cast around 200 Lee 452-230 TC. Dip lubed them in some Recluse lube. I haven't gotten my .452 lee push through sizer yet, so I'm just going to load them up as cast. They were dropping at right around .453 anyway, so they should be good to go. I decided, since this is just a .45 to go with straight range scrap with bit of extra tin. Boolits came out shiny and the fill out was perfect after I found my pace. Before that I had a lot of rounded edges...
These are my first cast boolits ever, so I'm kind of excited to get them loaded up and put a few downrange. I'm still waiting on an actual bottom pour pot so for now I'm casting with a ghetto ladle out of a small steel pot... But hey, I got 'er Did!!!

I have been casting bullets for 60+ years and I can still remember the first time I did it! Frankly, I still enjoy casting bullets even tho' I have cast several hundred thousand bullets in my time.
I have the Lee 452-230 TC with conventional lube groove (I use a Star luber/sizer) and they are excellent bullets. Mine shoot about 1 1/4" at 25 yards off a rest in my Smith 625's. Using full moon clips they are almost "sucked" into the cylinder on my 625's and also work perfectly in my 1911's.
Good bullet design.

I cast up some 500 grain .515 bullets for a rifle that shoots .50 x 3 1/4 inch shells. My new Star sizer die has not shown up yet, but Lathemaster put in the mail over the weekend.
That what I cast today, a bunch of them.

I cast some layman 358-242-95 for my 380 body guard sized to. 355
Just got through casting about 600 Lee 205gr 45 cal SWC and about 700 Lee 175 TC 40s. I have cases to fill. Last USPSA match used up 197 rounds. Placed 28th out of 83 overall and third out of 20 in Production. It was a fine day and a good match.
Just cast some 358 158 gr snakebite greasewagons for my first foray into black powder cartridge. Looking forward to shooting them.
Since the weather here in the sunny South is already in the 80s on a regular basis, my casting for this season is done. Yesterday I unloaded (from the front end of the gun) about 200 9mm 124 Lee boolits. For a while, 'til about late October, my casting is essentially uncasting.
380-MiHec H&G #68, 200gr SWC's... It's only my 5th time casting (last time was October!), 2nd time with this mould. It's weird to think I opened and closed the mould at least 95 times... 95 times plus the rejects.
Straight clip-on WW's. It's nice(?) how a closeup camera shows all the imperfections. I have yet to try adding any Tin, but I'd sure like to try, see if my rounded edges might fill in better... or maybe it's just me doing things wrong -Brad
Those are not bad looking bullets at all. However, in my experience, 2% tin added helps immeasurably to get good fill out.
My "standard" pistol bullet alloy is WW's+2% tin. One of the truly great casting alloys.

Tin will help. WW alloy is tin poor. Also WW alloy normally needs more heat. But with that said your bullets should work fine.
50 pounds of Lyman 429421, WW alloy from clintsfolly & bjeffv mixed 50/50.

Cast from aircooled, stick-on wheel weights. It's not pure lead, but it's close. They're soft as butter. These little 170g jewels are destined for .38 spl and about 800FPS. Nice gentle melon thumpers!
