Hope she likes it. It looks like fun.

A Lot can be said for the 22lr, especially in a pistol. They're definitely accurate.
It was snow/raining when I brought it home but I stopped and shot 10 rnds. I'm going to like it. Hope she does. The only thing I noticed is the decock/safety is backwards. If you put your thumb on top of the safety like you would a 1911 you shut the gun down in one shot.

My daughter bought the 9MM version SR9C. She loves it. Do I see a trend here...Is Ruger going to start producing this in PINK!!!!!![]()
Looks sweet, let us know how it runs for you and for her!
Raisin' Black Angus cows, outta gas, outta money, outta tags, low on boolits, but full 'a hope on the Rocky Mountain Eastern Slope!
Why does a man with a 7mag never panic buy? Because a man with a 7mag has no need to panic!

Looks a lot like my Walther. Ruger makes quality guns.
Hoping to buy one of these myself, going to be awhile since I just bought a buckmark.
Always carry, never tell.
Also, be sure you remove the barrel screw, clean all grease and apply some lock tite. It has a habit of coming loose. Lots of posts about it on the Ruger forums.

I went out after work tonight and ran 300 Remington bulk HP through the little SR22. Not a hick-up went bang every time. The trigger is a little something to get use to but it doesn't shoot to bad. I had the small grip on it the larger would fit better. I'm a clean the gun every time you shoot guy, but I think I'm going to just shoot this thing until it starts to jam see how long it takes. My Daughter shot 20 rnds out of it before dark at a pop can.
Some of you may cringe when you read this, but my Daughter is legally blind. Her left eye she only sees shadows and is around 20/300 20/350 in her right. As it was explained to me. that means what someone with 20/20 can see at 350 feet she has to be at 20 feet to see. She can't see the sights at all. My plan is to teach her instinctive shooting at 10 to 15 feet on an FBI Q target. She hit the pop can tonight about half the time at 5 or 6 feet. I've been an instructor for 15 years and have had sighted students that did do that well. She enjoyed shooting the SR22 so thats half the battle. She hated the S&W 642

Boolit Master I'm an old instructor...Can your daughter see a laser? Know you are enjoying teaching her to shoot...Keep us informed on the progress.

Some of the others here would know which would be best for her new hand gun also check which color she see's best. Green or Red.
Now that's just too cool. After finding which laser sight she can see I have a feeling that you are goning to get her shooting dead on target. That's great. Keep up the good work. BC

I didn't mention shes a twin. Her sister sees fine, but this is going to cost some money.. If it gets them shooting I'm good with it.

Does she wear a contact lens in the right eye? If not for contacts my wife would have to wear the preverbial Coke bottle lenes in her glasses. We have looked into lazer surgery but she does not have enough cornea (?) I believe, to correct her vision with current procedures. With the surgery she would only be CORRECTED to somewhere around 20/80.
I applaud your daughter and wish her the best in her endeavor.
This is what she has, couldn't spell it to save my life. Her eyes are good the optic nerve is affected.

She went through 28 radiation treatments 2 years ago. A lot of men think they're tough, but they have never met my little girl. She'd go bear huntin with a semi sharp stick.

As I said I wish her the best of luck and applaud her at what she is doing. I would also enjoy seeing the results of some her practice. Maybe we could get some pics?
Here are some pictures of the SR22 after 1100 rnds. without cleaning. It ran flawlessly for the first 580. The only problems we had were ammo related except after 1000 rnds the slide wouldn't always lock to the rear on the last shot. Once after a light rnd that failed to extract the trigger would not engage. I flipped the safety de-cock a couple times and we were off and running. Several fail to feed and fire but these were all due to light rnds that didn't have enough "UMP" to cycle the slide. One failure to fire between 800 and 810. The Federal Bulk ammo had a good primer strike but did not fire. It went the second time after being removed and put back in the mag.
These are the shells I used in the order I shot them. The Remingtons never had a problem. And they felt a little hotter and more consistent than the others. The Federals had several light charges that caused fail to feed fail to extract. But that's not the guns fault. The Winchesters that I shot last won't work in my MKIII. Some are too large to fit in the chamber. But the SR22 worked on them until we found the ones that had light powder charges. All clean and ready to go again.
