Does anyone cast it from Wheel Weights?
Does anyone cast it from Wheel Weights?
Yep, why not? I put any thing in a shotshell that fits.
Life is good
Normally, I'll save my WWs for bullets and use pure for buckshot but WWs will work just fine./beagle
diplomacy is being able to say, "nice doggie" until you find a big rock.....
Dang, I thought something happened to Rick! WHEW!
Gear
I do too.
You can miss fast & you can miss a lot, but only hits count.
Yes, ww or 50/50. No need for copper plating to make them harder that way.
I cast some no.1 for my brother last year and when loaded he said they shot better patterns that the factory shells when he could find them.
I still have about 1/2 a coffee can left for later projects.
thanks for the replies. What about graphite? Any need for any coating at all?
i tried both coated and uncoated, but i never seen a diff with the stuff being treated, i always just used cow and left it alone.
oh i got better groups with ww but i have thousands of lb of pure so i cast with pure. my beneli will shoot 6 pellet 000 with 23.5 gr unique in a certain shot wad so im ok with using 6 pellet pure.
Buffer makes for better patterns.
Two coyotes didn't like my ww buckshot this season.
I heat treat mine. The reason for the buffer is to reduce deformation so there will be fewer flyers. HTWW does the same thing and gives deeper penetration.
cow=cream of wheat
A true Southerner uses grits.
I used the plastic buffer from Ballistic Products, but a relative used corn meal and flour. I would be afraid of the flour absorbing moisture and setting up solid. I held the shell against the bolt on my vibratory case tumbler to settle the buffer and it worked fast.
I put them in my old rotary tumbler with a little snort of graphite.
A little goes a Looooog way.
