Name that press - A Quiz

A recent post on another thread by Lubedude got me to thinking (thanks Lubedude). His comments concerned that amount of competition in the reloading tool industry back then, the 1950s and today.

I thought it would be fun to come-up with all the names of companies that made Reloading Presses from 1946 to today. After the end of WWII there was a rapid expansion in the amount of disposable income for most people. This creates demand for things to buy and the shooting sports were to benefit from that to a great degree. Sales of firearms increased along with an expansion of models offered for sale. More guns means more reloading tools and a great many people jumped into the reloading tool business.

Some companies got their start making reloading tools other than press then offered presses as their business increased. Others began with a line of presses and offered other tools as the need manifested itself. And yet another company started offering its own line of reloading tools then added a press, but dropped the press a few years later though they still offer their own line of reloading tools. Two companies offered tools under the name of their spin-off companies. One company had three spin offs plus their own line. The other company still sells tools under the name of its spin-off.

I will warn you that the list exceeds 25 names. Can you name them all?

I can't name enough of them to avoid being declared a "Dummy" by any serious Historian of things reloading. However, I look forward to sitting at those learned members knee as they put forth the wisdom.

Oh what the heck: Pacific/Hornady - Ideal/Lyman (plus an extra spin off ?) - Sinclair/Bonanza/Forster. - Herters by /Redding - Herters by everyone else. Lee - Twice. C H as itself and ???. Bair/Lachenmiller? . Hollywood/???? multiple spin offs?.

I will throw this one in. Nutmeg "55" Universal Press. Made by AV Bryant, East Hartford Connecticut. Dates to 1972-1975. If an actual model actually exists I do not know, I have the literature describing it with those dates.

I see Huntington Die Specialties left off the list, as well as Old Western Scrounger, not sure if that press was actually made by them though i can't get a straight answer outta anybody on that, Shmitt...And...thats about all i've got that hasen't been covered already...

Dave at CH4D said he bought the rights of the Rock Crusher press from OWS. I seen one in action in the late 80s or 90s. Guy was loading 20mm on it. Truly the largest reloading press I've ever seen!

ECHO press, looks like a Pacific C press, except a mottled light green color and very light. Potter, I can't believe no one said Potter. I saw both of these for sale in a small gunshop in Conn. I bought a Belding + Mull model 28 instead.

I have seen Simplex presses, they look like good tools. The only Bruce Hill I have seen is the pisture of jimmyboys that he posted a month or so ago.

The pictures in gun digest of the NDFS press looked good too.

I have only seen pictures of the OWS Rock Crusher but they do look like a beast! I'd love one for swage work of i ever convince the world that i have time to start that too. Thanks for the info!
