Built 2 new rifles last summer on Mauser VZ24 receivers, a 260 Rem. and a 257 Roberts. Killed a buck with each this past fall. No cast boolits ready so I had to use jacketed. Hornady Interlock 140gr. in the 260 and Sierra 100gr. Spit. in the 257 Rob.

I've used the .280 Remington with a Lyman/ ideal bullet to take a couple white tails, the .35 Whelen and 358 JDJ were used also. The 358 315 and 358318 do outstanding work on deer in MY experience!

This year used my .45 cal ML. It is an Encore custom smokeless ML and I use 200 gr. .40 cal boolits in the Harvester smooth blue sabots ahead of 38 gr. of 4759 touched off with a Federal 209 sitting in a Savage breechplug. 10 ga

I was quite surprised to see that.
You can add it now though. JSP

Yes! Home made powder is styling!!! Out of curiousity, what grain size do you use?

A .308 Winchester for my deer this year.

I thought that 2F was going to be the right size but the 3F grouped better. Kind of strange since it had more fines in it which I would have thought might have made it less consistent.

Back in my younger days, I used a 7.7 Jap (i.e. 7.7x58) that my father had brought back from WW-II. The stock had been cut down quite a bit (sporterized). I've also killed a deer with a Ruger Blackhawk in .44mag (but only because that was what I happened to have in my backpack and the deer was stupid enough to just walk out on the trail in front of me and just stand there while I pulled the handgun out of my backpack)...

For the 2011/2012 season the only cast bullet guns I used for deer and bear were for the 444 MArlin . However I used maybe 10 different 444 rifles !

Also carried the gun a 444 and a 44 MAG with cast to Arkansas for piggies in early February of 2012 !
Parker's , 6.5mm's and my family in the Philippines

I believe that is the largest caliber yet.
