how about shooting me the catalog # as online I could not find what you were talking about. It must have some sort of number I could have so I can get one too. The cheapest I have seen anything of this sort is $50 or more around here.
    Thanks, Dan Corrigan

PS I have 8 5 gallon buckets of WW's to smelt

Agri-suppy is a great store. I love going there. They have cast iron pots big enough to use as a hot tub.

It is very close to 27 pounds per quart. that is not exact but is within a few ounces.

The Tool Box gas grill looks pretty cool. I've been wanting to build a small furnace for heat treating parts. The Tool box grill looks like it might be a good place to start from.
The stainless stock pots look like they would make good lube melting pots.

Would the 12" be capable of supporting a full 5 quarts of lead? How efficient are these on gas, ie how long would a 20lb tank last. Never used a turkey fryer myself so I have no concept of what to expect.

I'm debating between a propane smelter or building an electric one. Just starting out, could you cast with one of these too, or is the temperature too critical?

They are pretty strong, I boil 13 gallons of beer down to 10 on mine. Propane lasts a long time.

    I had the same concerns.
I'm now on my second 20lb tank. My first one lasted for about 600lbs of pure lead scrap smelting into ingots. MIne is actually a 175k btu Bayou Classic i think, but same basic rig. Holds up fine with 100+ lbs of lead melting in the pot.
    The setup works well.
