Lyman Sabot Slug - Outside Diameter?

New guy here. Been lurking for a while and have decided to load my own slugs.

I contacted Lyman inquiring as to the OD and length of their 525 gr 12 ga sabot slug. They replied that they don't give out specs on their molds.

Can anyone here give me the OD and length of this slug?

    Thanks

Specs. on the Lyman 525 Gr. 12 Ga. Slug (cast from pure lead) as follows:
    Length = .785
Width (at top of slug) = .680
Width (at bottom flare) = .665
This slug loads so well in a plastic case with wad, looks like a regular shotshell.
Be sure to label cases with a black marker. Very accurate slug, even with cyl. bore. Good loads shown in the Lyman Shotshell Reloading Handbook.
    Hope this helps out!

This slug is very accurate at 75 yards out of rifled barrel, use a AA hulls, Winchester WSF powder, Winchester 209 primer, Winchester Wad straight from book. Also played with roll crimp and adding shot card under Lyman slug and did increase accuracy. Shot hundreds of these out of 6 different guns- mostly remington 1100 and 1187.

    Odd indeed.

    This was their reply:

"I'm sorry but it is the company policy that specs are not sent out."

I'll suggest, that to Lyman bureaucrats the dimensions of their slug and mould are considered to be proprietary information.

Companies tend to be very secretive with their information. It may be that they simply don't want to volunteer the information free ~ buy the product if you want to measure it. Or it may be legalities ~ if they tell you dimensions then you (or someone you pass the "official" Lyman info to) make a mould using that info and blow up a gun they may be liable.

When it comes to company policies, bureaucrats and legalities, nothing is easy anymore!

This is published in Midway catalog, I assumed from Lyman along with mold description.

Dick Lee smiles all the way to the bank thanks to Lyman's business plan.
