.50-70 Black Powder Paper Patched Bullet 200 meter range test.
This week I tested my first Paper Patched .50-70 bullets for reliability and accuracy. I had 3x 5-rounds loads with (3) different black powder granulates. The results speak for them selfs.
The 2Fg loads came of high and erratic. The 4Fg loads came of low and the 3Fg hit the “sweet spot”. Not only did the paper patched kept my barrel nice and (easy to) clean but is gives you a whole different few how they did it in the past. I do all so reload my. 45-120SS with paper patched bullets (for quit some time), but i never had the need for my 50-70 to be paper patched. Just for the fun of it i did the test....
