he also has the actions for rifles, but bench only
I made the frame and attached the barrel to this pistol
.45 cal Green Mountain pistol barrel 1-18twist
copied my Ruger MKII for the grip
Shot a match with it Sun, 15 shot grocery match 35 yds OH, one handed, each shot scored 3 places paid each shot.
I shot 1 first place, 1 second and 1 third. first time out, didn't even have time to sand the grips or file the barrel.
I am seeing my friend that sells the parts...he is 80 and is hard to pin down..I will attempt to get prices
4060MAY - I would certainly like to know more about them myself. I shoot pistol (Kentucky and Patriot) regularly and would like to add another pistol to my rotation. Thanks, G
4060MAY that is some wicked cool. Congrats on the pistol building. I too would like to know how much for the trigger/hammer castings.
I have one of the original H&A underhammer 45 (44 actually) pistols but I like your design alot mo betta.
Maybe Ruger will copy your design.
I have several H&A clone rifles.........what kinda "different" do you seek and why? With H&A style trigger/hammer you could make the reciever yourself in just about any style you choose. I think FL FLinter ( Fire and Iron) is still selling the Deer CreeK/ H&A style parts....he is a member here.
Someday I want to make an underhammer that looks like one of the old Frank Wesson type actions. I tried making one with built up laminated steel plates but was not even close to happy with my creation...........GOOD LUCK

You can get the whole kit from deer creek, 765-525-6181. I still get my hammers and triggers from them.
John Taylor,
Those bronze (brass?) framed rifles you post are pretty. Is there a limit to the caliber you can mount on them?
Knowledge I take to my grave is wasted.
I prefer to use cartridges born before I was.
Success doesn't make me happy, being happy is what allows me to be successful.
I guess it depends on how much your shoulder can take. I have done 12 gauge on a brass frame but I didn't shoot it. If I remember right Roger Renner makes 72 caliber on a brass or silicon bronze frame.
Recoil is dependenat also on the butt design. You want a wider and longer buttplate for a larger caliber and make sure it has a pitch to ride properly on the shoulder. The cheek should somewhat parralel the bore and kick away from the face. It is surprising how much difference little things can make. Also a little bit of an individual thing, as what fits one may not fit another. I never finish a large bore gun without shooting it to make sure that it does not kick me in the face.

I have a few of these sets, I got them from Ron Long, he didn't remember who made them. One of these days I would like to build a switch barrel gun, as soon as I get done with the other 100 or so projects I have going. Anybody out there know who made these?
Bob
