    4500 questions

    Looking at used lyman 450s and 4500s on the auctions. The routinely go for close to $100.I dont see them listed as having a heatee.I can buy a new 4500 for $35.Am I missing something here?The new 4500 comes with a heat element.The heater is extra.Do I need the extra heater?Thanks for the help.Jim

    BUY IT!!! $35?!?!?! No, you're not missing anything other than a great deal! You don't NEED the heater, a small reading lamp use to heat the luber works fine if you need heat.

    I think that is the lubesizer heater, there does not appear to be a sale on lubsizers.

    I don't know if that's right or not. Thats an awefully good price for a 4500! I ordered 3 of them just in case! I checked and rechecked the order, and its says, "Lyman 4500 Lube Sizer (shipping weight 8 lbs)". It shows the heating elelment as an additional "option".

    Is the heating element only, no way optics planet would sell lubesizers for $30

    The product number is the # for the Lyman heater

    It's kind of amazing to see a 4500 selling for half of what their boolit moulds cost. Something smells fishy.......

    " Lyman 4500 Heating Element 115V Included in Price
    Lyman 4500 Heating Element 230V Add $15.10
    Lyman 4500 Lube Sizer with Gas Check Seater Add $109.10
    Lyman 4500 Lube Sizer with Heater 115V Add $123.10
    Lyman 4500 Lube Sizer with Heater 230V Add $145.10 "

    hmmm a $109 gas check seater ... that pretty well sums it up for me add to that if you want the heater and the sizer add $123 ...[sigh] if you dont get three hold them to truth in advertising !!!!!!!!!! but dont hold your breath..........

    It's rather confusing, to say the least. If you compare Lyman's product numbers with those listed on Opticsplanet, you will see that it's the heater that's $30.

    In my opinion, having spent 35-years in retail sales, Opticsplanet is engaging in no small amount of deceptive selling.

    Those of you who have placed orders may want to further investigate exactly what it is you are buying.

    Hey guys,
    I just got off the phone w/ optics planet. They told me it is just for the heater, the SKU # on the add is only for the heater and description is foe the lubesizer. They will only honor the price for the SKU#.
    Darn, I was hoping to get a Lyman 4500 for $30.00. Oh well

    Below is an e-mail I received from Opticsplanet after I ordered (and paid for), the lubesizers...If they are only honoring the SKU#, why does my receipt, and this notification say "Lyman 4500 Lube sizer". It doesn't say "heater" anywhere on it!

    Greetings from OpticsPlanet.com!

    Thank you for your order. We apologize, but your order has been temporarily placed on hold because we have just run out of stock on:
    ================================================== ================
    Lyman 4500 Lube Sizer $29.89
    ================================================== ================
    They are very popular and hard to keep around. We do have more on the way to us and it should take about 5-10 business days for us to receive them in stock. Please let us know if you would like to hold for the item. We will notify you when your order is received and ready to ship.

    If you would like to explore some other options, we have a warehouse full of similar products and our product specialists would be happy to help you find a suitable replacement. We can be reached at (800) 504-5897 or by e-mail at Sales@OpticsPlanet.com.

    We will be glad to issue a full refund to your PayPal account at your first request. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Thank you!

    Best Regards,

    OpticsPlanet.com Order Processing Team
    Jon

    perhaps they just lump every accessory under what it fits ie; lyman 4500 ...hmmmm toll free number and mischief .......ermm mischievous grin that is , reply looks like a canned statement [shrugz] thier sale prices seem to be mostly competitive but the advertising seems shaky at best

    At least in my mind, you can't show me a picture of a Cadilac...call it a "Cadilac", then sell me just the hub caps because thats what some non-descript SKU# in the listing says it is!

    OK, if the advertisement is misleading (even if it is not on purpose), the sales receipt and back order notice reads, Lyman 4500 lube-sizer...NOT heater!

    30 bucks for a 4500 is a crazy good deal...almost too good to be true. But for all I know, its some sort of promotional thing, or to bump up sales...or to get us all talking! If so, it worked!!!

    I'd like to hear what OpticsPlanet has to say...Think I'll e-mail them and ask for an explanation.
