I recently purchased an 1894 Springfield 30-40 Krag (with the 1896 upgrades). Nice gun, bore is mint and slugs at 0.3085. I will be casting 200 gr and sizing to .309.
I am considering using 3031 powder - I use 30 grains of this in my 1884 45-70 trapdoor with 405 gr cast bullets and it drives tacks (velocity around 1250 fps), I also use it in my 1894 Winchester (velocity around 1850 fps). Has anyone used this powder with the 30-40?
