What type of lead do you use for deer slugs pure lead or WW's? I have Lyman molds there instruction say to use pure lead, but that seams to soft to me.

I use WW with my Lee mold.
the lee's molds say pure lead but WW's work
my old lyman #3 says pure lead for the 475gr but WW will work
the lee molds have to be hot to work with WW thay like to stick to
the core pin
the lyman dose not have that problem
i use reclaimed lead shot too it works ok
you can use just about anything
The hardness of lead you can use may depend on the choke your gun has.
ya thats true for anything harder the pure lead stay with a improved cylinder or
cylinder bore .
pure lead i still would stay with improved cylinder or cylinder bore for smooth sided slugs but it will work in any choke just not good accuracy .
rifled slugs you can use in any choke why the rifling
on them is where the lead that get swage down go's in the grooves
that dont spin the slug at all
