    I need a lubre recipe

I've done alot of reading about this and am confused by the mass of recipes that are out there, so here is a specific question:

What homebrew recipe do you have for:

    smokeless powder
    rifle calibers
at velocities of 1500 to about 2100fps.

    Thanks!
    Jerry

Buy 2, 2oz bottles of Bull Plate @$4.00 ea. and mix it with 3/4 lb of your own bee's wax and you will have one pound of some of the best there is.
You can find the Bull Plate by scrolling to the bottom of this page and using the link to the Bull Shop. Way simple no precise temps, incantations ,or vewdew. Just melt the wax mix in the bull plate and let cool. Will not seperate, even if remelted.

So far I get good results with moly axle grease and bee's wax. (Yes it belongs to the bees) My first mix was 50-50 by volume and a little to soft. I added a bit more wax but am not sure what the exact ratio is now. I have mostly used this in lower velocity applications but very limited testing so far indicates I should get to 2000-2200 fps. Which in my two hig power rifles is about all they will do, 30-30 and 35 Rem.

I buy much of my "Hippie" Stuff from these guys.
http://www.thesage.com/ Very friendly people, very fast shipping. They have Jojoba oil for $62 a gal, vs http://www.jojobaking.com/ has it for $50 a gal. I have not ordered from here.
Majestic Mountain Sage http://www.thesage.com/ has many good ingredients, one stop, one shipping charge. They don't have cheap bee's wax though. I tried to talk them into it as they are about 90 min away from me.

In the FWFL recipie, are you useing the Ivory soap as a source of Stearic Acid?
    http://www.thesage.com/catalog/Fixed...ml#StearicAcid $3 per pound.
I don't use any, I just happened across it looking for something else.

I get my Liquid dyes here. http://www.earlyamericancandlesuppli...liquiddyes.asp

A note on color. The button dye, or pigment stuff is particles suspended in your solution. Not part of the solution. I don't know if the Pigment particles could be hazardous to a barrel( shooting lapping compound?) So I use the liquid dye. A little goes a very long way.
To avoid staining my hands for a couple of weeks, I wipe a little mineral oil all over both hands before picking up the bottle of dye.

This guy seems to have about the best price on Bee's Wax. http://www.texasdrone.com/

If anyone wants Alox 350 to play with, I can get 1 quart cans from Home Depot that hold about 2 lbs. 1qt for $8.32 + shipping. $6.60 parcel post or $8.65 Priority(unless you can find shipping cheaper). I can fit 5 cans in a flat rate box. I'll probably be putting some Alox up on e-bay for $9-10
You can also use the Alox as a corrosion inhibitor or light gun grease( like on the hinge pin of a double shotgun or rifle.)

I have mixed the Alox down to 4 parts Bee's wax to 1 Alox 350 and it seemed to shoot about the same in handguns and rifles up around 2000 fps.( I didn't do much testing with this, just enough to see that it didn't lead and turned in good groups.)

    FWIW
    Glenn.

Oh, one more thing. I am getting terribly slow on responding to e-mails and PM's, so don't take it personally, just send me a couple of reminders please.

Yes we will take a check. We can get four of those in a flat rate envelope which is I think about $5.00. BS Mom does that stuff and she is off to Fairbanks today to see the dock so I cant ask. New baby is just a month away now and she has to do a 260 mile round trip to see dock so when she gets home me thinks I will just leave her alone. You know thier not the most agreeable when at this point even if not tired.
I am watchin kids and doin house stuff and looks like thats gonna be the rewtine for a bit. At least the boys can go hunting, and they are bringing home lots of rabbits and grouse. I managed to slip out yestarday evening with JR.. I with the little Marlin 25/20 and JR. with that 788 Rem 223 of his.
We got into a bunch of blow down in an old burn that was crawling with rabbits. We both did good he shooting boolits from that new CBE mold we got and I from an old Win mold that works real good. Lots of fun!
Well now I guess I am sounding desperate to get out of the kitchen aint I.

I used to use alox- beeswax

Kept gettiong hollered at by the range officers for shooting BP on centerfire range. Sure nuff, it was the lube

I learned of a lube once offerred by SAECO on another list, called saeco green:
, I have a MESS of in tubes and plastic bags

SAECO Green (from a former saeco dealer John-Paul Jones)

It was 1# beeswax, 1 lb paraffin and 1/2 bottle STP carefully mixed and melted together. It is a NICE hard lube that I used with CB on my SKS and the load data says it's around 2200 fps

Very little smoke and good stability on stored bullets

A softer, tacky lube, not needing a heater on the sizer is Adrian Pittfield's recipe
    (I call it Adrian's Goo)

Adrian is a professional caster in Europe.

    ADRIAN'S GOO:
1 auto grease-gun cartridge melted into 1 lb of beeswax. Works excellently, about HALF as smoky as Beeswax alox, is not quite as stable on stored bullets in storage (cracks) and smells terrible when prepared. Adrian also shaves some Ivory bar soap into it, but it time consuming to get it to melt into the grease-wax mixture
