    Lyman Thermometer-Any Good?

I used a Lyman thermometer with my Lee magnum melter and at first thought the furnace was defective as the reading stayed at 600 degrees. After getting frosty bullets the thermometer was again inserted and again showed 600. I then accidentally bumped the dail and it went to 800. The needle seems to stick at various points on the dail. Has any one had these issues with this product???

It seems like a lot of lower end thermmeters like this will hang up a bit,

It seems like a lot of lower end thermometers like this will hang up a bit, and need a bit of a tap to get a reading. I remember vehicles like this over the years.
I thought mine was stuck at about 700, until I found out how to turn up the internal adjustments on the Lyman pot. Now I can get runaways way past 800 if I don't watch it.

I had to return (at my cost) the first lyman I bought, it was no where close...the replacement was worse. Not the first time lyman has left me less than pleased.

Bill Fergusan the antimonyman told me in calibration procudure for a thermometer to make sure the needle does not rub as that will cause it to stick. it is one of the things he does when leementing and calibrating the thermometers he sells.
